After a long hiatus from blogging, I’ve decided to try to jump back in. We’ll see how long I last this time.
I made my first pilgrimage to Hamvention earlier this year. That was quite a treat to see all the vendors and other displays. It was a bit overwhelming. There was justifiable excitement over the announcement of the Elecraft K4. I got a good look at the new(ish) offerings from Flex, which is near the top of my wish list, right after an antenna tower. However the one thing I did leave Xenia with is this little beauty –
So far, I really like this paddle. While there was nothing wrong with my old paddle, this one is truly an upgrade.
I also spent the Thursday before Hamvention started at Contest University. My friend, Eddie, KE0KEB, went with me and we had a good day hearing from some very accomplished contest operators and station builders. The venue was a bit overcrowded for me, and it would have been nice to be able to choose a thematic track to follow throughout the day’s presentations. For example, have a series of talks related to station optimization, and one on preparing for a contest, and so forth. However, there was enough variety in the topics on offer that I found something interesting and useful in each session.
